Video: An Honest Conversation, No. 3
With former TV presenter and journalist, Aisling O’Loughlin: ‘I can’t leave my kids a world where they’re pin-cushions for somebody who wants to kill them.’
‘This incredible frontier’
Aisling O’Loughlin was one of Ireland’s most familiar household faces, a TV presenter and journalist who could do serious or fun, and over the years her name became a byword for things like fashion, pop culture, music, entertainment. Then, one day two years ago, she realised that she could not continue, because her beloved profession of truth-telling had flipped to telling lies. Since then she has been a relentless voice of fact and honesty, applying her skills and energy to trying to overturn the pseudo-reality constructed by her former colleagues. Her objective is to restore the world to safety for the sake of her children. She has been fearless and driven in the cause of that objective. In this conversation with John Waters she speaks of many things that she — and increasing numbers of others — knows to be true. She might be your daughter or your sister or your friend or girlfriend. Most of all she is an Angel of Truth, one of the few of those still standing.
‘I was Woke before I awakened,’ she says. ‘Once your Eyes have been opened, you can’t go back to sleep.’
