We ‘got’ the turf today, bringing it home in glorious sunshine that belied the darker urgency of the mission. I don’t have a bog of my own, but my friend Jack offered me half the harvest of his family plot if I gave him a few days footing and clamping, words that for me are synonyms for joy.
