Bonus Content: Diary extracts
So, Irish sovereignty is a ‘backward-looking idea,’ but Ukrainian sovereignty is something worth starting a world war for.
Any War Will Do
In the fraught and confusing circumstances in which the world finds itself, this attempt at clarification from my diary this week is offered by way of a gentle reminder that, if we have learned anything from the past two years, it must surely be that 'our side' is no longer — if it ever really was — to be regarded as the Good Guys.
THURSDAY
Events in Ukraine remind me of my childhood school pal, Par Doherty, who at the age of 12 was to be observed puffing on a cigarette every lunchtime behind the science lab. One day, being unable to comprehend the attractions of sticking pencils of rolled up dried weed wrapped in paper in your mouth and setting them on fire, I asked him why he had started smoking in the first place. ‘My mother was always accusing me of smoking, he responded, ‘so I decided I might as well start.’
And so it is with Vladimir Putin. His action of this morning follows years of provocation of Russia within its own ‘sphere of influence,’ as well as its allies within Ukraine. US encouragement of Kiev’s contemptuous treatment of the Minsk accords, while at the same time stringing Ukraine along about its joining NATO in order to wind up Putin, has finally caused him to kick the chair.
Russia cares about Ukraine; the West does not. The ‘West’ — the US and EU — has several motives: Right now, it is looking urgently for an alibi for its two years of Covid crimes against its own peoples, which it hopes to do by creating a state of permanent emergency. A state of New Cold War with Russia will fit the bill perfectly.
Here is the news: ‘Our side’ are the bad guys. They lie and lie in search of some pretext to create a distraction from their encroaching irrelevance as Russia and China grow and grow. The biggest lie is that Russia is intent upon rebuilding the Soviet Union. Instead, Putin is building a new civilisation, based on Christianity, tradition, nationhood and family — all the things that have been under relentless attack in the West from the Woke psychos and saboteurs unwittingly acting for the Combine and spurred on by the local creeps. .
The provocation of Russia went on into the early hours of Thursday, with Ukraine surrogates incessantly threatening and shelling the two independent Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, until the defending forces reached out to Russia for help. The ultimate reason for Russia’s action is that Ukraine, sponsored by the US, the EU and NATO, has been trying to invade or destabilise the Donbass, which Putin calls ‘the doorstep to our house.’
Putin has accused Kiev of planning a Blitzkrieg in the Donbass and demanded that Ukraine ‘demilitarise,’ recognise Russia’s 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula, abandon ambitions to join NATO, pledge neutrality and negotiate with the Donbass separatists about the disputed borders.
This all started back in 2014, when a US-backed violent and bloody coup replaced Ukraine’s democratic government with a rabidly anti-Russian administration, thus provoking the attempted breakaways of the Donbass republics. The coup was orchestrated by a mixture of the Obama/Clinton administration, tech giants, and an extremist militia on the ground in Ukraine, namely the Azov Special Operations Detachment, also known as the Azov Battalion — a (for once genuinely) ‘far right,’ Neo-Nazi quasi-Ukrainian National Guard unit. This is what Putin means about ‘denazifying’ Ukraine. These are the kinds of people the Irish government — which sees the ‘far right’ everywhere except where’s it is actually to be found — now stands alongside. Obama’s objective at the time was to place military outposts and nuclear weapons on Ukrainian soil.
Ukraine, by any historical measure, is a fascist rogue state, or at least it would if the spell-words uttered on the international stage by representative of the great powers or their puppets could be taken in the least seriously. Its president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is a literal clown — a former stand-up comedian who would be out of his depth were he not merely a US puppet.
Ukraine is the new Yugoslavia, a disintegrating country without a cohesive identity. Its borders are a construct of the former Soviet Union and its actions in seeking to browbeat the Donbass countries will almost certainly hasten its own final disintegration.
Russia has had an undercover presence in Donetsk and Lugansk for the past eight years, following the US-sponsored 2014 coup. The Russian presence has been at the invitation of the separatist leaderships of those republics. On Monday last, Russia formerly recognised both republics and sent peacekeeping forces to put an end to attacks by the Kiev government and its proxies, as well as continuous blockades of the republics’ economies, in a persistent and blatant flouting of agreements signed up to by all sides several years ago.
Russia claims Ukraine has reneged in its undertaking in the Minsk accords of 2016 to grant special status to Donetsk and Lugansk. Kiev has refused to sit down with the leaders of the two republics as per the terms of the Minsk agreements. Putin claims it is not interested in a peaceful solution, which sounds about right. Kiev is carrying out the orders of the UN, the US, the EU and NATO, all of which are intent upon starting a war somewhere or other — any war will do — to cover their own filthy tracks. Putin could have done what he did today on any other day of the past seven years — to far better effect. He did not initiate this episode.
Donetsk and Lugansk have the same legitimate claim to secede from Ukraine as Ireland had to secede from Britain a century ago. Russia’s actions are predicated on avoiding a full-scale war within the territory of Ukraine, and also with protecting itself from incursions by Western powers into its own neighbourhood.
At the German reunification meeting in 1990, German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher told his US counterpart, James Baker, that NATO would not expand to the East. (Remember Rule #1: Every word from their mouths is a lie.)
The United Nations declared itself ‘greatly concerned’ about Russia’s decision to grant recognition to the two republics, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres deeming the move a violation of Kiev’s ‘sovereignty.’ European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called Russia’s action ‘a blatant violation of international law, the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the Minsk agreements,’ and threatened to impose sanctions on Russia in retaliation. The Taoiseach mehole provoked no little merriment by tweeting: ‘Tonight’s announcement by President Putin recognising the separatist territories of Ukraine is a violation of international law, and breaches Ukrainian sovereignty.’ So, Irish sovereignty is a ‘backward-looking idea,’ but Ukrainian sovereignty is something worth starting a world war for. We really are being led by some of the most revolting specimens ever to descend upon our political system: Martin once again reveals himself as a man utterly devoid of principle or backbone.
The timing of this week’s events was sparked not by any kind of Russian escalation but by the uptick in the ‘invasion’ narrative by the Western powers using corrupt media. The Western leaders and their media stooges have for weeks been predicting things that may be about to happen now because they refused to desist from predicting them: a Russian commandeering of Ukraine, tanks rolling into Kiev as in Prague in 1968, to be followed by pogroms and sackings of all and sundry. Pressing pause on their attacks and demonisations of nationhood everywhere else, they pledged their power and resources to defending it in Ukraine, where in truth it barely exists. The Western powers have, as usual, depended on bought-and-paid-for media and the propensity of their own long-pampered peoples to avoid complexity and go for the spaghetti western explanation.
Most immediately, this campaign arose from Washington’s desire to scupper the opening of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany, which would have shifted the balance of power-loyalties in the world in a manner uncongenial to the US. If ties between Germany and Russia were to become strengthened, there would be no need for NATO, or US military bases in Europe, and this might signal the initiation of a nascent (uncapitalised) new world order — Russia, Germany and possibly China — which the US was not, for obvious reasons, so keen on. One of the direct outcomes of this would have been that the petrodollar would cease to be the default world currency. And, by the by, Ukraine, as the Hunter Biden story (suppressed by the corrupt media) tells us, is also a money-laundering operation for the globalist financial elites.
The puppet masters dangling Biden thought to poke Russia into some kind of overt military response. They knew Putin would have no choice, and so did he. As a result, Nord Stream 2 is now likely a dead duck.
The new pipeline was intended to transport natural gas from Russia into the EU, something Germany in particular desperately needed as the EU's domestic gas production has been in rapid decline and Germany had gone full Woke by decommissioning its nuclear power plants. Germany needed the pipeline and didn’t want a dispute with Russia, not to mention war in Ukraine, but will now be the most adversely affected country arising from the debacle.
The good news is that this could also be the end of the mendacious climate change agenda. Henceforth, the West will be too busy keeping warm to engage in virtue signalling. Biden and his puppet media claim he’s won, but in reality what he’s done is cement the economic and strategic links between Russia and China.
In addition, as stated, the ‘World War III’ narrative is intended to create a diversion from the collapsing Covid narrative and the imminent fallout in the form of ‘vaccine’ carnage and economic meltdown. Interestingly, today at a press conference in Brussels, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, used the phrase ‘new normal’ several times and promised a ‘new Europe’ after the morning’s events. 'New Europe' is one way of putting it.
On Monday also, Varadkreep threw his lot in with the villains, mouthing about the necessity of ‘avoiding a land war between Russia and Ukraine,’ as though this eventuality had any chance of arising other than by malfeasance of the Western allies, including Ireland. He said also that the Irish Government ‘strongly supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and believes that should be respected,’ which is pretty much the kind of evasive hunkersliding you would expect from somebody who respects not a single democratic principle. All the European leaders are likewise spouting lies and threats, pretending that nothing like this has ever happened before. Exhibit One: the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus (Turkey is a US ally and a member of NATO). Exhibit Two: the 1999 US invasion of Kosova. But the Western allies can depend on the slime of their puppet press not to raise such embarrassing precedents.
In further good news: Today is also the end of globalism for a very long time. For all their bluster, the Western powers have very few cards to play with. Russia/China is in the ascendant, and ultimately everyone involved in this schemozzle — apart from the US neocons and Putin — are all mouth and no trousers.
It is very hard to predict whether or when the people of the West will start to wake up and realise what has been happening to the world they imagine themselves to inhabit. For many years, for sundry reasons, their governments have been working assiduously to transform their societies from democracies to fascist dictatorships properly defined: power cartels of government and corporations with a view to total control. To achieve these ends, they have rotated the political left 180 degrees so that it now, without even knowing it, represents the interests of the greediest and most ruthless forces on earth. While demonising any residual voice of opposition as ‘far right’, these neo-fascist governments are prepared to deal with any bunch of extremists thugs from left or right in order to achieve their primary aim of subjugating and terrorising their populations. Now, they think to present themselves again as champions of democracy.
But the democratic West no longer exists, in anything but name, and in that only because of the continuing corruption of the media, which, at a moment of near-terminal decline, were offered the opportunity to survive a little longer by selling western civilisation down the river, an offer they grabbed with both arms.
It is, after all, a spaghetti western, and our guys are the ones with the manic laughs and the bad moustaches.
FRIDAY
When you begin to think, finally, that our side are the villains, perhaps it is time to open the last unopened box of the Covid scam: the one with the clues indicating that ‘our side’ may have been behind the ‘virus’ to begin with.
In light of all the foregoing, is there any reason to believe that what we have gone through in the past two years was organic, accidental or imposed by an external entity?
Since, as with Ukraine, everything the general public ‘knows’ about the Covid episode has been fed to it, one way or another, via the rancid legacy media, what reasonable basis could the average citizen have for believing so?
In a sense, the Turdeau stuff adds nothing to the mix of what most of us had already experienced of the pathological ugliness of virtually the entirety of the Western political class. He is but a convex mirror held up to Varadkreep and the Taoiseach mehole, both of whom would do the same thing tomorrow if the ordare was issued to them.
A few months ago I published a speculative entry here that hinted at what I have gradually come to believe is the truth about all this:
Since 2016, in fact, things . . . have grown exponentially worse. The Internet has grown more and more filtered and targeted, confining almost everyone to updates on what they already know. The legacy media, in its death throes, is prepared to do almost anything for just another day of corrupted and otiose life. Ideological thugs stalk every terrain where some matter of concern to Wokism stands still to be decided. Contemplating the dour visages of the emerging generations of manipulators, the world already begins to be nostalgic for the redeeming twinkle in Vladislav Surkov’s eye.
For in truth we have no way of knowing now what is true and what is not, what is happening and what is merely the constructed illusion of the media witch doctors.
The gravity of this, and the urgency of fixing it, are beyond all possibility of overstatement. It means, in effect, that we are completely blind-sided with regard to events and affairs of the world that may bear down upon us at any moment.
Let us hazard what, as of this moment, may appear to be an utterly far-fetched hypothesis. Imagine if, at this very moment, the United States was preparing to launch an attack upon China. The plan might be for a first strike, destroying multiple Chinese cities at once, fabricating a reason, perhaps something to do with defending the freedoms of the Taiwanese people. What if the United States was trying to goad the Chinese into some kind of first strike initiative, while setting in place arrangements for shock-and-awe counter measures — including nuclear strikes — intended to permanently disable China’s military and nuclear capacities? What if, indeed, this was planned as the culmination of a series of attacks that have already occurred, going back four or five years . . . Let’s speculate that something like a series of bio-attacks had been mounted on Chinese agriculture and livestock, causing unquantifiable damage, followed by — just imagine! — a viral bioweapon attack on the human population of China in early 2020. Let us further imagine that, under cover of the ensuing confusion, malevolent Western interests at a high geopolitical level decided to launch their own form of mirroring attack within the West itself, letting loose a mild virus among their own peoples in order to assert total political control and, in effect, stand down democratic rights and freedoms on what is intended to be a permanent basis. Imagine further that these punitive measures had already caused enormous hardship throughout the West, as well as the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, many of them citizens in the last years of life, but also many much younger people — even some children — who had been killed by a bizarre alleged therapeutic drug masqueraded as a vaccine.
And what if things were just about to get really serious? What if, contrary to the complacent assumptions of the world, China was militarily far ahead of what American intelligence was able to divine? What if America was walking into a trap? What if Russia had already agreed to stand with China in the event of its being attacked? What if the two non-Western superpowers had already put in place a counter plan and jointly developed systems to prevent the United States from launching nuclear strike counter attacks? What if these preparations were all but complete at this very moment?
Clearly this is a rather fanciful hypothesis. Of course! It is, after all, merely a hypothesis. But how would we know about it even if it were happening? Do we imagine that it is beyond the venality of the global media to agree to a news blackout on all military manoeuvrings on the basis of instructions from on high? Given that the global media — or at least those parts of it that influence Western understandings of what is happening in the world — have been in rigid lockstep for at least the past two years, reporting the same misleading narrative on a round-the-clock basis, have we any longer any way of saying with certainty what is or is not true? Practically the only way we have had of knowing what has been happening was via the media, which we trusted implicitly. Now, perhaps, we — or some of us — see how foolishly misplaced this state of confidence was. Can we say with certainty, then, that anything at all in our newspapers is true in the least? Can we repeat to one another with anything other than scepticism the contents of last night’s television news, this morning’s radio breakfast shows? No, no, and no.
The truth is that we have no way of knowing what is happening in the world. The time when we could sleep easily in our beds in the knowledge that people known as journalists and reporters, were out in the world as we slumbered, foraging for facts to build true pictures of the world for us to contemplate over breakfast — that time is now gone. In its place is an exercise in filling space and time with partial facts and skewed information designed to manipulate us into some form of emotional disarray — fearfulness, anger, frustration, anxiety, with a view to pushing this or that agenda for which their paymasters have placed an order.
The above stab in the gloaming is, I would say, about 70 per cent accurate. Obviously, we would now have to substitute China/Taiwan with Russia/Ukraine, but the essence of that section has now come to pass. The second half depends more on true historical knowledge, unavailable from conventional quarters, but not entirely non-existent.
Take, for example, the writer Ron Unz and his Unz Review (unzreview.com), where he has been writing in the margins since the beginning of the ‘pandemic’ to the effect that the rumoured bioattack that launched the ‘pandemic’ was initiated not by China but by the American Deep State — in China, in late 2019. A couple of others have been writing similar things in a somewhat less coherent fashion, but the story has penetrated neither the mainstream nor indeed the alternative online media to any great extent.
Unz is a theoretical physicist by training, who became more involved in politics and public policy from the 1990s. When, in April 2020, he published his first long article on the likely origins of the Covid outbreak, his website was suddenly banned from Facebook and had its pages deranked by Google. Traffic that had been building rapidly went into immediate collapse. Now he has begun to manifest again on the fringes of the vlogosphere.
He claims that in 2018, the US Deep State launched a bio-warfare attack against Chinese poultry, following up with another in 2019 targetting its pig population (euphemistically dubbed ‘pig Ebola’). This followed on President Trump bringing in Robert Kadlec, one of America’s leading biowarfare advocates as part of his White House team. In 2019, Unz reports, Kadlec organised a simulation exercise called ‘Crimson Contagion,’ which mocked-up a hypothetical outbreak of a dangerous respiratory viral disease in China, with a particular focus on how things might play out if the disease spread to the US. Far from being your usual ‘conspiracy theory,’ this exercise was extensively reported in the New York Slimes. In this exercise, federal and state officials rehearsed how they might ensure that, if a mysterious respiratory virus suddenly appeared in China, they would be able to prevent it reaching America and devastating it. Two months after the end of that exercise, the SARS-CoV-2 virus first manifested in China.
In October 2019, 300 American military servicemen visited Wuhan to participate in the World Military Games. Very shortly thereafter — around the turn of the month — Patient Zero in Wuhan was reported, the world’s first case of Covid. It was only in late December/early January 2020, however, that the Chinese authorities became aware of the problem.
In January 2020 also, US agents assassinated Iran’s top military leader, Qasem Soleimani, via a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport. A retaliatory Iranian missile strike nearly led to open war. In mid/late January 2020, Unz writes, the ‘Wuhan virus’ suddenly jumped 3,500 miles to the Holy City of Qom, and subsequently manifested in several other Iranian cities, including Tehran, where it infected many of Iran’s top political and religious establishment, with a number dying as a consequence. ‘By February,’ he adds, ‘Iran had become the second global epicenter of the Covid outbreak, despite having a negligible Chinese population, while the later outbreaks in Italy and Spain were in locations with hundreds of thousands of Chinese.’ It is indeed remarkable that the second chronological manifestation was in a country thousands of miles away from the initial outbreak, with which the US was involved in a continuing conflict. In early March 2020, the Iranian government publicly accused America of launching a biowarfare attack against Iran and China, with a formal complaint submitted to the UN. Virtually no Western media reported those accusations.
In early April, 2020, four intelligence sources told ABC News that a secret US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report of the second week of the previous November had described a ‘potentially cataclysmic’ disease outbreak taking place in Wuhan — at a time when only the perpetrator could have had such knowledge. This report had been circulated among NATO allies but ignored by all, including the Trump administration. Unz describes this as ‘fairly close to a smoking gun.’
Recently, Unz recalled:
‘I believe that if and when Americans and other Westerners begin to digest the reality that the massive deaths and disruption of the global Covid outbreak were very likely the result of a biowarfare attack by rogue elements of our own Deep State, the American ruling political regime will probably fall.[ . . . ] For almost two years I have cited an ABC News story revealing that a secret DIA report described the “potentially cataclysmic” disease outbreak in Wuhan in November 2019, many weeks before there was any detectable disease outbreak in that city. But the actual TV clip provides much greater impact, and one of my podcast interviewers recently brought it to my attention . . . ‘
At that point, as Unz puts it, according to all the available knowledge and retrospective evidence, probably a dozen or maybe 20 people were starting to feel a little bit sick in a city (Wuhan) of 11 million: ‘There was no way for any outside observer to possibly be aware of the disease outbreak at that point. In fact, the Chinese government itself only became aware of the outbreak at the end of December, six or seven weeks later.’
Here is the ABC clip that in April 2020 reported the details of the November 2019 intelligence reports detailing the earliest manifestations of the virus — though probably only because at the time this story offered the opportunity of a spin that would make Trump seem uniquely culpable.
.Unz believes that Trump was unaware of the bioattacks and ‘had absolutely no idea, when Covid leaked back into the United States, that it was an American biowarfare weapon that was coming to hit us.’ He believes that the attack was planned by a small coterie of officials in the US national security establishment — ‘one notch down from Trump, probably a small group of officials who decided that they needed to strike a deep blow against China’ — operating without the authorisation of the president. He believes the virus was developed in America, not China.
The true sting of Unz’s hypothesis has to do not with the authorities ignoring an early warning, but with potentially exposing those who had such clear foreknowledge of the virus as to suggest complicity in its spread. Four separate intelligence agencies confirmed the story to ABC, yet in April 2020, the Pentagon was denying these reports. A week later, however, Israeli television confirmed that the reports had been sent to all NATO allies in November, including Israel, and — presumably — Ireland. This meant that these agencies were aware of what was happening several months before the virus arrived in America or Europe.
By this telling, the Wuhan lab theory is as fictional as the Wuhan wet market story. Unz proposes an ‘Option 3’: a deliberate bioattack with a weapon designed to be moderately lethal but exceedingly contagious, but let loose by ‘our side.’ Unz deduces from this that it was designed as a strike against economy rather than human beings as such. By this he means that it was intended to kill but not to wipe our entire populations.
His thesis, he acknowledges, is a matter of a ‘very strong suspicion’ rather than hard proof. He does not think the Chinese could get very far by seriously levelling the accusation, because the international media is controlled from the West. He reckons the West has suffered so much that China will be happy just to revel in the West’s having shot itself in both feet.
Unz is a credible witness, but is off the mark, in my view, in some matters — for example, the gravity of the virus in places like the US which was much exaggerated by corrupt reporting and mis-classification. He appears utterly oblivious of the innumerable controversies concerning testing, mortality figures, mass euthanasia, lockdown deaths, vaccine inefficacy and lethality, and sundry other aspects. His criticisms of the media relate mainly to an imputed incompetence, rather than a total buy-out of journalistic ethics. He reads the New York Slimesevery day, and adopts the mainstream narrative that the virus directly caused about one million deaths in the US alone, even though this analysis has been comprehensively debunked by the Canadian scientist Denis Rancourt. Tellingly, he displays a typical media derangement condescension towards Trump, assuming the stories of his ‘incompetence’ are all true.
He also downplays the suggestion that the totalitarian aspects of the lockdown had any relationship to the initial bio-weapon conspiracy, and does not comment on the mimicry of Chinese methodologies to be observed in the actions of the Combine. While not dismissing the sinister aspects of the globalised governmental power-grab, he clearly does not see this as part of the motivation behind the initiative.
He believes that the topic of biowarfare might have leached out of the conspirator group, creating a more generalised speculation about the risk and possibilities, thus explaining Event 201 and other anomalies. China, he says, unexpectedly contrived to control the epidemic by a short, savage lockdown, and ended up suffering relatively minor damage. Having messed up in various ways to begin with, the US government, not knowing what to do, implemented the policy that had worked in China. But the American lockdowns were too porous and went on too long, exacerbating the damage caused by the virus. It wasn’t malevolence, he says, just incompetence with a leavening of opportunism. ‘Just because someone takes advantage of a crisis, ‘ he says, ‘doesn’t mean they had anything to do with fostering it.’
The plot may still be in the process of thickening. The true purpose of the ‘vaccines,’ I am told from another source whose version jells somewhat with this one, was to create an immunisation infrastructure to protect the West’s populations from either friendly fire or the retaliation of those our side had attacked. This just might explain why the creeps have been so frantic about ramping up the jab figures. Now that it is clear they do not work, and the Ukraine strategy has floundered, ‘our side’ may be becoming desperate, and therefore more psychotically dangerous than even what we have seen thus far. The ‘vaccines’ are of no better use for their ulterior purpose than for their ostensible one. Even before the events of this week, I had been told by a source that has proved otherwise to be reliable that the US is planning either a bioweapon or nuclear attack on Russia and/or China, but I am also told that it is unlikely that either potential target country is of a mind to wait for this to happen. Localised strikes against precise targets in Europe and America are the most likely scenario if things proceed along that dark and dangerous avenue.
